High School Modern Myth

Modern Myths are original stories that explain a modern phenomenon or teach a moral or creat a new adventure or situation for an ancient character. 

  • High school myths should be between 400 and 1000 words long.  There will be four high school divisions: Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11 and Grade 12.

    N.B.: Myths that are longer than the specified lengths will be disqualified.
             Elementary school Modern Myth entrants must attend the Latin
             Olympics and take the morning tests.

All entries must be typed or printed and double-spaced. THE STUDENT’S NAME MUST NOT APPEAR ON THE MYTH ITSELF BUT ON A SEPARATE COVER SHEET.  Click here to download the cover sheet.

Criteria for judging will be creativity, style, writing and evidence of understanding of classical mythology.

Winners of Modern Myth contests will receive ribbons. They will be awarded sweepstakes points as described on the scoring page.

Modern Myth is a pre-judged contest.
